Radix rehmanniae
Appearance: Brown fine powder
Active Ingredients: Catalpo, Rehman-nin
Origin: The root of Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch
Plant form: Perennial herb with long white soft hair and gland hair. Their oval leaves crowded in the bottom, while on the top, they become to be a stick. There are irregular dull crenellations on the edge of the wrinkled leaves. It can be found on the hillside, ridge of field and roadside. Most of Radix Rehmanniaes are cultivated.
Composition Catalpol, aminophenols, sugar, mannite, β- sitosterol, campesterol etc.
Property and flavor: Fresh radix rehmanniae is a little bitter and sweet; while crude radix rehmanniae is cool and tasted sweet.
Usages & Applications:
1.seasonal febrile disease involving yinfen and yuefen, manifested as fever and irritability
2.blood-heat syndrome manifested as hematemesis , epistaxis, hemoptysis, hematuria, hemafecia, metrorrhagia ,etc.
3.febrile diseases with consumption of body fluid manifested as fever ,thirst and constipation
4.syndrome of yin deficiency and fire-hyperactivity with hectic fever
5.lung dryness syndrome with cough of epistaxis
6.sthenic or asthenic heat-syndrome with sorethroat. |
