Assay: NLT 99%(dried substance).
Appearance: White or almost white, crystalline powder.
Solubility: Slightly soluble in water, very slightly soluble in methanol, practically insoluble in ethanol.
IDENTIFICATION
A. Infrared absorption spectrophotometry (2.2.24).
B. It complies with the test for specific optical rotation (see Tests).
Appearance of solution: The solution is clear and colourless.
Acidity: Not more than 0.60 ml of 0.01 M sodium hydroxide is required to change the colour of the indicator to pink.
Specific optical rotation: + 74.5 to + 78.0 (dried substance).
