Product name:  Ellagic Acid

Ellagic acid is a naturally occuring polyphenolic compound that has very strong antioxidant properties.
It is a very good free radical scavenger, mitigates oxidative stress, slows the degenerative process of aging and promote wound healing. Ellagic acid has also been found to cause apoptosis (cell death) in cancer cells in the laboratory. Some also claim it prevents the binding of carcinogens to DNA, and strengthens connective tissue, which may keep cancer cells from spreading. Ellagic acid has also been said to reduce heart disease, birth defects, liver fibrosis, and to promote wound healing.

CHARACTERISTICS

1. A potent antioxidant that has anti-mutagenic and anti-carcinogenic properties.
2. Inhibits DNA topoisomerases I and II (IC50 = 1.8 mM and 2.1 mM, respectively).
3. Also a potent inhibitor of PKA catalytic subunit (IC50 = 2 mM) and of PKC (IC50 = 8 mM)
4. Soluble in ethanol, dilute alkalis, or pyridine.
